Dental crowns are typically placed when decay, fractures, or an endodontic treatment (root canal) compromises the structure of a tooth to the point where a filling won’t suffice. At your initial crown appointment, Dr. Sala will clean out the site, take any x-rays that may be required for insurance reimbursement, take an impression, and create a custom temporary crown for the area while your permanent crown is being made at our lab. 

At your second appointment, we will cement your permanent crown in place. Typically, this takes no more than half an hour. Your crown will now look and function as a normal, natural tooth.
